1. How many times can
I reuse Exac-Tac?
Even with normal dust and dirt, you can reuse Exac-Tac
10-12 times.
2. Can I fold Exac-Tac
to itself?
YES! When the tack touches itself, it's easy to pull
Exac-Tac back apart! When taking Exac-Tac out to the
field or around shops, fold Exac-Tac onto itself, but
do not leave for extended periods of time. When you
get back to the shop, unfold Exac-Tac and store as described
below.
3. How do I store Exac-Tac?
On any clean surface. We recommend PVC foam board or
the release paper that your vinyl comes on. These are
easy to obtain and usually around your shop.
4. Can I use Exac-Tac
on wet applications?
YES. All you need is tap water and a drop of dishwashing
liquid. Lightly spray your surface with the water and
apply as normal. Do NOT use application fluids with
Exac-Tac because the chemicals will eat away the adhesive
on Exac-Tac and ruin it.
5. Does Exac-Tac have
static?
NO! Exac-Tac has very little, if any, static. To de-staticize
Exac-Tac, simply hold each end of Exac-Tac with both
hands and touch your work surface with any part of your
body (elbow, etc).
6. What does "Forgiving"
mean?
Exac-Tac will not be destroyed if you accidentally touch
the tack to itself or to a piece of paper. Exac-Tac
is pressure sensitive and will pick up only the graphics
you put pressure onto by squeegeeing the vinyl down.
Exac-Tac also allows you to change the placement before
squeegeeing your graphics to a substrate: when placing
your vinyl, you can "snatch" the graphics
up if you haven't squeegeed them down. Plus, you can
overlap pieces of Exac-Tac to make larger sizes of transfer
tape, and because Exac-Tac is a vinyl, it will give
and you won't have to worry about creases, like you
do with paper tape.
7. Why does Exac-Tac have a backing paper?
So Exac-Tac can be used on a plotter. Spray the backing
paper with adhesive, like Spray Mount and apply to plotter
paper or use a friction feed plotter.
8. How do I save money
by using Exac-Tac?
If you use Exac-Tac three times, it has paid for itself.
Any uses beyond that saves you money and will lower
your transfer tape cost dramatically. You will get about
10-15 uses out of each piece of Exac-Tac. You will also
save time and motion by not having to get a new piece
of tape for every transfer.
9. Does Exac-Tac curl
when you pull it off the roll?
No. Exac-Tac lays flat once off the paper backing.
10. In what temperature should Exac-Tac be stored?
The recommended storage temperatures are from 40-105
degrees Fahrenheit. If you leave Exac-Tac in an enclosed
area during hot temperatures, such as a car in summer,
the adhesive will become more adherent. The normal warehouse
will not have an effect on Exac-Tac. The shelf life
of Exac-Tac is two years -- MUCH longer than it will
be on your shelf!
11. What sizes of Exac-Tac
do I need to buy?
Exac-Tac comes in 54" x 100' logs, and we cut the
logs to any size you specify, and remember, you can
"build" sizes, making a 10" out of a
6" and 4", without worrying about creases.
And when through with that application, you can pull
the pieces back apart and reuse separately. This will
cut down on the sizes you have to stock.
12. What are handles?
Handles make Exac-Tac easier to use. We recommend folding
a small part of each end of Exac-Tac to itself. On banner
applications, we recommend using pieces of PVC pipe.
This makes Exac-Tac easier to "handle".
13. Can you use Exac-Tac as a stencil?
YES! Exac-Tac can be run through a plotter (#7 above)
and used as a stencil.
14. Can you use Exac-Tac as a paint mask?
Yes! Exac-Tac works great as a paint mask.
15. How clear is Exac-Tac, really?
PERFECTLY CLEAR! See for yourself!
16. Exac-Tac can be used
as a substrate?
You bet! It's a great substrate for thermal printers
and resin-based ink. Imagine a reusable, repositionable
storefront or backlit sign (try our white vinyl substrate
Exac-Tac made specifically for this purpose). You can
also apply vinyl graphics to the non-adhesive side of
Exac-Tac for quick effective signs. |
